Split Second Change Requests

Change requests for corrections and enhancements to the Split Second software. Mainly masters-specific, but some of these are general improvements.

High priority - these make big difference in operations

• Masters age classes handling (labels and sorting)
  Support a minimum age for computing masters age class (18 US masters, 30 FIS Masters). Use min age in Class 1 report title.
  When sorting into masters age class order, collect competitors with non-standard age class (not in 1..14 class) in a separate group.

• add support for condensed start list option on masters Reports
  On the Reports choice for First and Second Run, add the "Condensed Start List" choice from Alpine to the Masters options. Saves paper to be able to print a more concise start list (RA's often hand-edit the masters report to save paper, very tedious to do on every run)
• add support for FIS masters points list  (med-high priority - very helpful but only affects one event)

• provide access to the Masters second-run start order sorting from Sort menu
  For a masters race, the Second Run start list report provides a pair of choices for the start order in each class (fastest to slowest, slowest to fastest, and flip-5 bibbo) and the handling of first-run DNF/DSQ competitors (end of class, end of race, not allowed). It would be very helpful to have this available directly from the Sort menu - we have several divisions where the resulting competitor sort order *always* requires some additional manual adjustment and review. When accessed from the print menu, it's an awkward process that requires two passes through the 2nd run start list process: first pass is needed to perform the sort, with printing cancelled in order to make final adjustments to the competitor list, then a second pass is done to actually print the start list, with sorting carefully disabled on the second pass so we can print the lovingly hand-crafted competitor order.

Low Priority

• Correct terminology on reports in header section: "Gates" (not "Features")
  Race reports from Masters use wording "Features" in the header section, should be "Gates" as in Alpine. Also, SC header should include direction changes as well as # gates, per Alpine.

• New masters age class 14 for racers age 90+ - (not needed often)
  Class 14 is now supported for ages 90..99. Competitor entry computes from birthdate as class 13, per age 80..99 class range and is not yet handled by the Running order by Class age class start order sort. Workaround: If you have a class 14 competitor in your race, correct their class when first added to the competitor entry list; manually move them up to the top of the start order each time you prepare a start list or results report.

• Add Send Race File service to email race data file - (general enhancement request for a relatively common use case)
  (Bumping this up from original medium priority, I think this would be a very helpful general enhancement)
• Improve support for importing standard csv formats  - (general enhancement request for a relatively common use case)
• Officials data entry in Masters race does not work

Medium Priority

• Need Transmittal Sheet report available in Masters Alpine race
  (Should be fairly simple to add; report is available on Alpine)

• Problems with Officials Points list and data entry
  Long-standing problems with selection choices for officials points list in a Masters race (not selectable unless NLO* file copied from main Points List folder where downloaded with alpine points zip file into Masters subdir, since ussa hasn't been including NLO* file with download zip of masters points list) and non-functioning data entry support on Officials page (frquently no data entry support popup list provided as officials name typed) seem to be corrected in end-of-season release. Workaround was to change the race's displine to Alpine, select the officials points list on Factors/Lists page, and do the Officials page work from Alpine, then switch the race back to Alpine Masters.

Medium Priority

• Missing Reports choices from Alpine not included on Masters race
  Needs review - recent updates to Split Second have included some additional report options, this request may now be resolved. [15-Feb-2011]

High priority - these make big difference in operations

• Provide field(s) for client app data to support interoperability - (new request for 2011)
• Masters second run start order changed to reverse bibbo in class - (rule change for 2011)
• Correct "Running order by Class" age class sort order for masters - (relatively easy to fix??)

Medium Priority

• Add Class to Competitor entry in FIS XML - (frequently needed for checking and post-processing - hopefully easy and would be really helpful)

Low Priority

• Preserve race type when switching between Alpine and Masters
