A Racer's Edge

The 2024 US Alpine Masters National Championships, sponsored in part by A Racer's Edge, were hosted by Central Division at Granite Peak WI on Feb. 5-10, 2024. The 2024 nationals are a 4-event championship with SG, GS, SL, and a parallel GS. There will also be a second SG race that is not part of the national championship scoring. Both SG races are part of the 2024 National Speed Series standings.

The national championship DH will be held on Jan. 23-24 at Mammoth Mountain CA. Both DH races are included in the 2024 National Speed Series standings.

** Championship Scoring Rules ** The combined age class champions scoring ("triple-combined") is based on the total race points scored in the three races SG #1, GS, and SL. The 4 races SG1-GS-SL and the parallel GS are counted for the Nationals Masters Team and Divisions Cup scoring. The second SG race is not part of the national championship scoring, but both SG races count in the 2024 National Speed Series standings.

Entries and Qualification

You must have a current US Alpine Master membership to compete in regional and national championship events. (no short-term memberships) Competitor field size for the national championships is limited to 300 entries.

DH Championship

Event Results

Note: in order to manage the large field of competitors and provide good conditions for all at this championship event, competitors are split into several groups by age and gender. The groupings are A (men 18-49, classes 1-5), B (men 50-64, classes 6-8), C (all women), and D (men 65+, classes 9-14). The SG and the GS events are run on two courses to separate the younger A/B classes from the C/D groups of older men and all ladies, while in the SL each group generally competes on their own course.

The age class combined champions are awarded according to total race points in the triple-combined disciplines SG1-GS-SL contested at the national championships. The four races SG1-GS-SL and the Parallel GS are counted in Divisions Cup and National Masters team scoring. (The second SG race is included in the 2024 National Speed Series standings but is not part of the national championship scoring).

Division's Cup

The Division's Cup is awarded to the division with the best ratio of points scored per competitor start for all races in the national championships. Division teams must consist of at least 10 competitors to be eligible. The 2024 Divisions Cup was captured by Eastern division.

US National Masters Team

The US National Masters Team is named at the conclusion of the National Championships, based on world cup points scoring (best finish record points total) from the best 3 finishes in the 4 events at the national championships.
