USSA masters races are organized under the United States Ski Association (USSA), the national sanctioning body for alpine ski racing. Sanctioned USSA masters races are listed on the USSA race calendar and competitors must be participant members of USSA, which ordinarily means holding a current alpine masters competitor license.

Race organizers and administrators have a number of services available though the USSA web site for checking that competitors have current licenses and that race codes have been obtained for sanctioned races on the current season calendar. Starting in November 2011, member services on the USSA web site are available through the member portal my.ussa.org and require login to your member account to access services.

Direct links to important USSA services for race organizers and officials are provided here, as many find navigating the USSA site to locate information of interest to be somewhat challenging. All of these lookup and report services are also available directly from your member portal account home page once you have logged in (look for the links in the Tools sub-header section, immediately following your account information at the top of the page).

USSA Forms and Rules

Information, forms, and competition rules are published on the USSA web site. This material is publicly available and does not require account login.

Short-Term Alpine Masters Membership

Starting in the 2016-2017 season, short-term Alpine Masters licenses can be purchased online from USSA member services for $15/day.

The initial short-term membership purchase may include multiple days. Additional days can be purchased by contacting USSA Member Services by phone, email, or the Live Support online chat service.

A print application for the initial purchase of a short-term masters membership is available for the use of race organizers on-site at an event if it is not possible for the athlete to purchase their initial membership online; however, the print form should be reserved for use only as a last resort.

USSA Member Lookup Services

Member lookup services are provided by the Member Lookup and Member Lists services. Most current USSA masters will be listed in the points list file used with race software, which is updated periodically throughout the season by USSA, but check online for the most up-to-date information about a competitor's license status.

To check the license status of a competitor, use the Member Lookup feature on the USSA web site:

Competitors can be located by name or license number; the information listed shows their license type, division affiliation, year-of-birth, gender, and whether their license is current.

To get a complete list of all registered masters racers, use the Member List feature on the USSA Alpine web site:

Member list reports can be filtered by license type, division, and other conditions.

USSA Event Lookup Service

To check the race calendar for transmittal numbers assigned by USSA for sanctioned races, use the Event Lookup feature on the USSA Alpine web site:

NOTE: A race code is assigned upon completion of the USSA Schedule Agreement, which must be submitted by the race organizer for a competition to be sanctioned on the USSA calendar as a masters competition. This is essential for liability and secondary accident insurance coverage of the event.

The schedule must have separate race codes for each gender, even if the event is operated using "masters start order" rules with both men and women competing on a single course.

USSA Officials Certifications Reports

To check officials status or get a complete list of current officials certifications, use the Officials Certifications Viewer feature on the USSA Alpine web site:

USSA Masters Points Lists

USSA publishes a masters points list data file containing all licensed USSA masters competitors periodically throughout the season. The masters points list file can be used with the Split Second Timing software to assist in correctly entering racer information such as name, age, and USSA license number when inserting competitors in a Masters Alpine race data file.

The masters points list is scheduled to be published regularly during the competition season, starting in November and updated approximately monthly.

The masters points list file is available for download from the USSA web site from the Alpine Points and Rankings page on ussa.org. (click on the link in the Alpine Points List Downloads section to download the masters points list .ZIP file).

The Split Second software supports downloading and installing the current points list from within the program, which is the simplest and most commonly used technique. See the Split Seconds Tips page entry Installing Points Lists Files if you want to download and use the points list with the Split Second timing software.
