The 2010 Skier's Edge Western Regional Championships were hosted by Intermountain Masters Division and Park City Mountain Resort at Park City, UT on Feb. 4-7, 2010. The regional championships are a 4-discipline SC/SG/GS/SL event, with super-combined being added to the event and included in the combined scoring. Site of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, the Park City western region championships will feature SG and SC races on Payday, with GS and SL events on CB's and Picabos in the Eagle Race arena.
Race photos of the weekend GS and SL races were taken by Eric Schramm of Rennsportfoto.com. Follow the links below to visit Eric's photo galleries.
You must have a current USSA Masters competition license to compete in regional and national championship events (no temporary weekend licenses). Entries should be submitted to the Park City Race Department by by Wednesday Jan. 27, 2010 with full payment included. Entries received after the Jan. 27 deadline will be charged a $20 late fee and accepted only on a space-available basis subject to the 200-competitor field size limit.
Entry submissions were closed on Monday Feb. 1. All refund requests due to injury must be received within 5 days after the final race.
***Updated event schedule [Tue Feb. 2] The Western Regionals daily event schedule has been updated to reflect venue changes. (see link below for complete event schedule) The US team will be using CB's for Olympic training and the hill is being water-injected to provide them with a World Cup quality training surface (popularly known as "ice" to mortal masters racers!). Consequently, the GS and SL technical events originally planned for CB's and Picabo at the Eagle Race Arena will be moved to Payday. All events are now on Payday.
Registration will be open 9-4 on Wednesday at the Sports Desk for arriving competitors to check in, and early Thursday from 7:30-8:30 prior to the first day's racing. The Sports Desk is located in the Main Ticket Office building in the main PCMR plaza.
The detailed event schedule is posted on the masters section of ussa.org:
