The 2002 Alpine Masters National Championships were held at Winter Park, CO. The Downhill Championships are Mar. 30- Apr. 2, with the SG/GS/SL combined nationals following the second half of the week on Apr. 3-7.
The weather this week has provided spring conditions on the race hills, with warm, sunny, and moderately breezy conditions most days. The Winter Park race crew has been working tremendously hard all week to provide the best possible conditions for all competitors. Their effort has paid off with a great week of racing for all.

National championship medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each class in the SG, GS, and SL events. The overall combined class champion is awarded based on lowest total race points within age class in all three events of the triple combined (SG, GS, SL).

The finale of the national championships is the awarding of the Divisions Cup, which goes to the division with the best points/start ratio for all competitors in the division in the three events of the triple-combined (SG, GS, SL). Each racer start in each division is counted, with points awarded to the top 5 finishers in each age class on the scale of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. (The points are adjusted downward according to the number of starters if there are fewer than 5 competitors in the class.)
